NIL'S STONE HOUSE

  • NIL'S Stone House
NIL'S Stone House is a rare ancient Greek stone house, registered with the Monuments Board, located in the last untouched village of Izmir Cesme, Çiftlikköy, 100 meters from the sea and the beach. NILS Stone House was initially built in the 18th century, commissioned for one of the prominent families in the region, and has been used by the family for approximately 200 years.

Due to its uninterrupted presence for two centuries, the residential building within the structure has attracted considerable attention.

UMART Architecture Office, which took over the building in 2010, completed the challenging restoration work using original building materials and craftsmanship over a period of 4 years. Some of the materials used in the building and the stones of the rubble walls belong to the original structure. The building, reconstructed in accordance with the original, was built using stones cut by hand according to ancient construction techniques, without the use of modern mortar and concrete materials. Since the ceiling and floor are made of wood, our building is lightweight and earthquake-resistant.
